Divine Punishment

Divine Punishment
What a crazy language

There was a group of boys who planed to visit a city on the occasion of valentine day. As per their plan, they went to visit that city. In that city they saw a beautiful girl; they all wanted to talk with her. But no one had courage to go and to talk with her. They were pushing each other to go and talk with her. At last they found one funny fellow among themselves; they all pushed him to talk with her. He went to her and he asked her “what is your name”. She replied him very gently “My name is Puja”. He thought for a while and remembered his school days how teachers used to ask question than he asked her second question “what is your father’s name”. She answered him politely “my father’s name is SNS”. This poor fellow kept on asking question and offered her third question, ‘what is your grand father’s name’. She got angry and told him ‘stupid’. This fellow responded back to her ‘what a great name having to your grand father’. She got too much angry and told him ‘idiot’. This poor fellow told her back ‘I think this is grand mother’s name’.

This is the problems of languages in this world. There are so many languages in the world which we don’t know and can’t understand even single word too. I used to ask myself why God gave so many languages to the humankind and made them confused to understand each others languages. You may also have the same question regarding this.
What ever may be we are very much proud of our languages because this the media of communication through which we are relating ourselves with each other as well as we are sharing our thoughts ,feelings , and emotions with our fellow beings. God has given us wonderful instrument to have relationship with each other and as well as with Him. The language was given to us to have connection with each other and our relationship with each other
(Genesis 11:1-9)
Soon after flood ended, Noah became a grandfather, for God gave children to Noah’s sons and their wives. These grand children grew up and had children too, until after a while the world was full of people again.

Don’t you suppose these people would be very careful not make God angry? They knew about the terrible flood and what had happened to all the people before. But no, they didn’t care, and kept on doing all sort of bad things. Perhaps they weren’t afraid of God, because of the rainbow and God’s promise not to send another flood. But there were many other ways for God to punish them. He could send sickness or war or not enough food, or He might send down fire from heaven to burn them up. But they seem to forget this; their hearts were bad so they acted just like the people before the flood, and constantly sinned against God.

There was only one language in the world at that time. Today there are hundreds of languages, like English, Spanish, and German. Like these there are many languages. But in those days the people all talked alike, so everyone in the entire world could understand everyone else!

One day the people said to each other, let’s build a higher tower, as high as heaven! So they began to build it. We are not told why they wanted to build this tower, but probably it was because they wanted everyone to see how great they were to build such a high tower. But it is sinful to be proud, and God knew what they were thinking. One day the Lord came down from heaven to see the tower, and He was not happy about it. He decided to stop the people from building it. So He made them begin to speak in different languages! Now they could not understand each other! One man would ask to another for hammer, but the other man couldn’t understand him! This made them angry with each other, and soon they stopped working and went home.

They didn’t even want to live near to each other anymore, so all those who were speaking the same languages lived together, and moved away from those who didn’t speak their language. That’s why different languages are spoken in different parts of the world today. So the tower was called the tower of Babel, was never completed. The word “Babel” means “mixed up”. When people began to talk in different languages and couldn’t understand each other anymore, they got all mixed up. That is why the tower was called the tower of Babel.

By dong this God wanted to make humankind to understand the three important truths.

1. When we separate ourselves from God, our relation with one another suffers. When the people of Babel separated from God, their relation with one another suffered. They lost their relation with God as well as with one another. They were not able to communicate with each other. Our existence depends upon our relationship and fellowship with God. The human race’s growth in spiritual stature is the result of dependence on God. When we move away from God, our relation with one another is lost. Social relationship is destroyed by selfishness. We are failing to understand the will of God and work; we are unable to work with others in harmony.

2. When we try to make a name for ourselves, we lose our power of communication. The people of Babel came in unity to make their name high by building a tower. They forgot that God’s name is above all the names. When God saw them what they are going to do. He confused them by giving different-different languages. And they lost their communication with one another. All human are social beings and it is by communication that relationships are strengthening which in growth. When selfness takes the upper hand, the interest to communicate decreases. When each person tries hard for his or her own growth it leads to total failure.
3. Human prides leads to failure. They were proud of communication because they were speaking one language. They said to each other let us come and build a building. They depended too much on themselves. They broke their relationship with God. And when they lost their relationship with God. They could not communicate with each other. Depending too much upon our strength without depending upon God leads to failure. We should remember the saying “pride goes before fall”. Our efforts will lead to a failure if we depend too much on our strength whereas depending on God’s grace act not ends with scattering of His people. In Isaiah 60:1-9, He has told about the future glory of God’s people. So when we restore our relation with God, communication is also restore through Jesus Christ.

Anything God does have a purpose. He scattered humans when they separated from Him. But His love for humankind made Him to send His only begotten son to sacrifice for our sin. So we might be able to restore our relationship with God as well as with our fellow beings. The great sacrifice on the cross helps us to understand the important of accepting one another. So it is for us to understand this supreme love that we saw us on the cross. This should help us not to keep away others on the basis of the languages or consider one language supreme over another. We who reconciled with God through Jesus Christ should understand and consider all the language as a means of communication. We should go forth with love of God and break the barriers of languages.

Many times I saw in the newspaper, the head lines were given that three Hindi speaking traders were killed in state of Assam. North Indian students were beaten by the Manatees in the Mumbai. A north Indian student Rahul was killed by Shiva sena (October-November 2008). These are the News which you might have seen in the newspaper. But there are many cases in the state itself; people are humiliating the low caste. In the villages also people are not living in harmony. More over that in the family setup also there many problems. But thing is that those things are not being highlighted. But we ourselves knowing all those things what is happening around us. One day a father was telling to his friend “My son is not listening to me, he does not understand me”. The son does not understand the language of his own father. It is not only between the son and father. Now the family relationship has been broken. You may be thinking, why all those things are happening? What is the reason behind this? Did you ever think about it if not? Be sure of it one day you are the one who is going to face this problem in your family, in your village, in your colony, in your town, in your state and in your country. Now our social lives have been questioned, how our social life will be. Than what will be the solution for this so that we can live in harmony. It’s very difficult or hard question for us that ever we face in our lives. How much we will tolerate others. When we do good to others and they wrong us? It is very hard to tolerate and to forgive. The people of the world are becoming worse and worse. Some of the people are not even leave their loved one. They crush their own love one also. Now the saddest thing is that the family relationship has been broken. Now every body wants to live a separate life. I used to ask my self why all those things are happening. When I see the conditions of family life today that breaks my heart. They have lost the love for each other that’s the reason the relationship are not good among the family. One says ‘I love him’. How we can say that we love some one if we are not forging him. We must know that love forgives. Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep any record of wrongs. 1cor.15:4-5. Jesus said “if you love each other by this only you will recognized as my disciple”. But often we forget this in our practical lives. Love is only certificate God has given us to identify ourselves with Him. If we do not have love for each other than how can we claim that we are His disciples or Christian. We need to understand that every body is created in God’s image. If we hate somebody than we hate God’s image. Scripture says you are the temple of God, and God lives in you. (Cor.3:16) it may be the hard for us but as Paul says through Him I can do every thing. Let we also try to do so. Let the love of God, helps us to restore our relationship with our fellow beings as well as with Him. It has to be continue ………………………………. ……. .. . .. . . . . . .. . .. . .

Practical steps to be fellow-
· We should respect all the language.
· We should accept one another.
Then only we able to do His will in our lives.
